Didn´t sleep well last night either, not sure why.
Probably because I took a nap yesterday. Or that I´m far too rested after being
sick. Still am sick though, but feel much better. Today I went up at 9 and felt
rested and the time before lunch I spent organizing photos, borrowing Njeri´s
internet to check my email, my economy and to create some PDF from facts online.
And while sitting in the sun I started sketching on my photo books, and feel
really inspired. I just HAVE to see some of the country!
After lunch I spent a couple of hours with the
youngest students, age 3-6 and they were SO curious about me and when I showed
them my phone they all wanted to take a lot of pictures with it. I was quite
terrified seeing my brand new iPhone 5 in the hands of four over eager
children, but it was so worth it!
When school ended I went down towards the guest house
and some other, older student came after me. They had heard that I had a game
on my phone (Bubble shooter) and wanted to try.
And of course they could. I must say that I trusted my phone more
comfortably into their hands than the smaller children. Then they promised to
teach me some games during the weekend. When back in my room I sat down to try
to make a plan on hour to see the most of Kenya during my stay. Chou-Chou came
and lay down at my feet and it felt so nice, sitting there with a dog, writing
on my plans and watching out into the beautiful flowers in the garden. I felt
rich!
While I was sitting there, people kept passing on
their way to get water. They were all very friendly and the children curious. A
man stopped and started talking to me, asking me if I liked it here and if I
were a teacher. When I said that I was a student to becoming a teacher he told
me that he was a primary teacher, studying part time at Nairobi City Center
uni. to become a history and Kiswahili teacher. We kept talking for a while and
I asked him about the possibilities of studying in Kenya and he said that he´d
be glad to share some written information with me and answer more of my
questions.
Talk about perfect meeting to create a connection! And
to find a future interview victim…;-)
Then it was time for dinner.
Note.
Seeing rich
people sitting alone in the end of a big dining table in a big room, being
served by a quiet butler, I have always thought that I must be extremely
boring. Well it is.
I have it like
that every day, for breakfast, lunch and supper. My “butler” is called Anna and
is very nice, but almost doesn´t speak any English. The food is great though,
it´s just that I´m not used to being served like in the restaurant all day
long. Have to do something about that I guess.
