Beautiful creatures
While hiking to the lake, I spoted this colorful creature. I don´t know what the true name is but the colors made me think about the game "Loppan" that I used to play as a kid. Where you were supposed to win parts to build your flee. They could become wuite colorful as well, but nothing like this!
Hiking with the kids
Today I experienced the term of “Kenya time”
for real. In the morning it was time for church and it would start after
breakfast (around 8.30). So I was ready and waiting at that time. Around nine
the children started coming and singing and I waited. And waited. A took a
stroll. And waited. When it was ten o’clock a man came and started singing with
the children. And I waited. After another half an hour he held a service that
was really good. He talked about not taking things for granted and asked the
children how many shoes they have. Then he told a story about a boy who would
start school and in the introduction letter from the school it said that he
should being a pair of leather shoes. So he did. In his hands. Because he had
never worn shoes so he didn´t know how.
And the man was right, we all
do have things to be grateful for. And it doesn´t hurt reminding myself of
that.
Shortly after the service was
done (all in all it took over 3h!) it was time for lunch. Then I sat in the
sun, finishing my book (Duff McKagan) and it felt really nice. I could live
like this for a while. I started thinking about going somewhere to finish my
thesis, or book, or write music etc. It would be really good for both the mind
and soul.
Last afternoon I changed to my
Blundtstones, took my camera and headed up to find the children to take a walk.
They were a bit skeptic at first then they got more excited and they took me on
a walk to a small lake outside the farm. I started to take some pictures (I had
promised myself that I wouldn´t let anyone else handle my camera) and after a
short walk the elder children wanted to try to take pictures with it ( and I
let them). And I got some decent pics too.

Tanning the Muzungo
Today I sat in the sun for a while, trying to muster some energy. After an hour I could hear
singing from the little church and I used my voice memo to record it. I guess I
will have more chances but just in case. I also realized that I´m a bit of a
loner, because I really enjoyed listening to the children sing from a distance,
but actually hid so that no one would see me. I just wanted some undisturbed
and relaxing time for myself, reading my book. And it was nice. When the sun vanished
from the back I moved to my porch and just after a few minutes the children
came down to talk to me. I didn´t mind and they looked a lot at my tattoos and
in my book. Some of the children kissed my skin and caressed my hair and I
guess I kind of understand how celebrities must feel when meeting fans. Then we
got out to the yard and started playing a bit and they took me to the little
playground between the houses. Well, playground might be a strong word, it´s
just two trees and in the middle was a pile of long cut grass. They used a stone
as a jumping board and did flips in the air, landing in the grass. They were
really funny and good and I had a nice time. They also promised me to take me
for a tour around the place after lunch tomorrow and I asked if I could join
them in church tomorrow morning. That will be fun! Then I had to get some work
done before it got to dark so I headed down to my room again.
